Pata Lapata is a docudrama made by Lakshyam NGO & Underdog Motion Pictures to show the reality that WE(Unequal) go through every day and WE(Privileged) are unable to believe or ignore HOW? Amongst us in CENTRAL & SOUTH DELHI (Not any village), thousands of people are living without basics; Water, toilets & Electricity!

The docudrama explores the true life of the youth of this country which comprises children with the lack of opportunities.

Despite our efforts, there are very few children who can succeed in their professions in a manner where they are able to elevate their social status and benefit their families. The docudrama wants to majorly explore and emphasize on the following issue. Due to the socio-political and economic scenario should such children be made to focus only on skilled labor, or should we let the boy in the slums let him dream to become the pilot he wants to become?

Laal Seb (Documentary Movie)

Laal Seb, a short film made by Lakshyam children living in the slums of Delhi on their true story. Lakshyam undertook the project to involve the students of ‘Butterfly: Child Welfare & Education’ into constructive learning through varied electronic mediums that trigger their creativity and help them learn some of the basic nuances of filmmaking. The movie titled “Laal Seb” has been the artistic child birthed from the creative minds of the children studying in Lakshyam School. Made by and for the children, it is based on the unfortunate realities faced by the children of slums and their journey towards Education – the everyday trials and tribulations captured with innocence and absolute honesty. Conceptualized and scripted by the children, the Film showcases a day in the life of a young girl living in the slum, who has a school assignment to complete (related to a Laal Seb – Red Apple) and how such a regular activity brings along struggles that no child should experience. The movie was Screened and launched in PVR cinemas along with core supporters of Lakshyam.

Men Serving Mankind

The second edition of Delhi Primes featured 37 honorable men around the city of Delhi, who have earned accolades, not only in their respective businesses but also in their individual efforts to do good for the society. They recognise that with great power comes great responsibilities. These men recognise the responsibility that lies heavy on each one of us – taking active measures to help create positive impact where the need is utmost. The fundraising event serves as an impetus to Lakshyam’s various projects and helps reach out to larger masses. The respected names include Dr. NareshTrehan, Mr. Jatin Das, Mr. KapilDev, Mr. Tushar Kumar, Mr. Bharat Sahni, letters from Mr. ShashiTharoor, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, ChetanBhagat. Inspiring as they are, these men have earned themselves a significant status in the society and are spreading a noble message – that the good we have is not ours to keep. The renowned names illustrated in the Coffee Table Book have been actively associated with us and continue to contribute towards Lakshyam’s growth and development.

Women in Power

‘Delhi Primes: Women in Power’, the first fundraising initiative by Lakshyam, unique in its concept reaped positive responses from the classes and masses. Aimed at spreading awareness towards Lakshyam’s project, ‘Rooh: Women’s Awakening’, a compilation of inspiring stories of 35 powerful women of Delhi threw light on hope and inspiration as the key tools to a happy and successful future. The Coffee Table Book highlighted the awe inspiring tales of women from all walks of life like Shallu Jindal, Ayesha Thapar, Priya Sachdev, Sangeeta Assomull, Shahnaz Hussain, Dr Shyama Chona and others, with special messages from the likes of Ms. Sharmila Tagore, Dr. Kiran Bedi and Dr. Farooq Abdullah. The book includes a Foreword from the Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms. Sheila Dixit that rightly echoed the sentiments of woman power in the country.

The renowned names illustrated in the Coffee Table Book have been actively associated with us and continue to contribute towards Lakshyam’s growth and development.

We’d like to specially mention Ms. Shahnaz Hussain who took our initiative, Delhi Primes, to the international markets and showcased the work of Lakshyam in several countries like the U.S (White House), Sri Lanka (President House), Malaysia, Singapore, Canada (Cannes Film Festival) and many more. Fashion for a Cause 6

Lakshyam in association with Prama Jyoti Foundation organised the 6th annual show, themed around ‘Empowering the Girl Child Today, to Building Women Leaders of Tomorrow’. It was even more special as renowned actor Boman Irani graced the event with his presence. Like every year, our purpose was increasing the awareness and resource mobilisation. This year the idea behind the event was to work for the upliftment of our new centre in Vasant Kunj which is in Sindhi Basti slum wherein the majority of population is involved in begging and selling toys in traffic signals. The number of children going to a government school is just 5 percent and the basic facilities in the form of where they live is bare minimum, till the extent that they have to buy water for drinking or washing or bathing.

The fashion show got the sheen when celebrated personalities from all walks of life walked the ramp for the designers like Reynu Taandon, Poonam Bhagat, Vandy Mehra, Payal Jain, Niki Mahajan, Varun Bahl and Payal Bahl.

Three luxury brands, Judith Leiber, Porsche and Ivanka Trump auctioned the best of their products. With a customized Lakshyam themed, Judith Leiber clutch, a Porsche smart phone and an Ivanka Trump handbag, FFC 2015 proved to be an absolute sensation! Bollywood actor Jimmy Shergill and TV Celebrity Neeraj Gaba graced the event by walking the ramp with Lakshyam kids.

Bollywood heartthrob, Salman Khan and his charitable trust, Being Human, kick started the flagship initiative that met an astounding success. A few dance performcaces were done ny the kids of Lakshyam. Some wore Being Human T shirts, and interacted with the superstar. It was a dream come true for the giddy young faces. Salman Khan and Being Human donated a generous amount to mark the occasion as a successful one. And the Lakshyam kids walked on the ramp along with the models in the event.
